Bridging Tradition and Innovation: Our NEP Journey
At Sri Sankara Vidyalaya, we believe that true education lies in nurturing the head, heart, and hands. Embracing the National Education Policy 2020, we have reimagined our teaching and learning practices to be more holistic, child-centric, and rooted in Indian ethos, while preparing students to thrive in a globalized world. From our youngest learners to senior secondary students, every stage is thoughtfully aligned with NEP’s vision—encouraging curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and compassion.
Bal Vatika (Nursery, KG I, KG II)
Our Balvatika classes lay the foundation of joyful learning through play, stories, music, and movement. We focus on the overall well-being of each child—social, emotional, physical, and cognitive. Children explore their world through nature walks, hands-on activities, and free play, all in a warm, language-rich environment that respects their mother tongue. Teachers act as gentle guides, fostering curiosity and confidence. The Holistic Progress Card allows us to track growth meaningfully, celebrating each child’s unique journey rather than just milestones.
Lower Primary (Classes I–II)
As students enter formal schooling, we ensure that learning remains joyful, inclusive, and rooted in experience. Early literacy and numeracy are nurtured through thematic lessons, storytelling, and visual aids. Classrooms are alive with colour, conversation, and collaboration. Focus areas include language development, personal hygiene, healthy habits, and value-based learning. Through physical activities, simple life skills, and interactive sessions, we help children become confident, kind, and curious learners. The Holistic Progress Card continues to guide student development with a balanced focus on academics and personal growth.
Upper Primary (Classes III–V)
This stage introduces subject-based learning while keeping the spirit of exploration alive. Classrooms become spaces for inquiry—where questions are welcomed, and learning is hands-on. Games, role-plays, experiments, and creative writing enhance conceptual understanding. Environmental awareness and scientific thinking are encouraged through simple investigations. Art, music, and reading programs enrich learning experiences. Digital tools are gradually introduced, helping children become comfortable with technology while staying grounded in values and creativity.
Middle Stage (Classes VI–VIII)
At this stage, learners dive deeper into academic subjects while also engaging with real-world themes. We promote the 21st century skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and communication through debates, discussions, and projects. Coding and vocational exposure are introduced, sparking interest in emerging fields. Students explore India’s rich heritage, participate in club activities, and use digital platforms for learning. Assessments shift to a competency-based approach, focusing on application and understanding rather than rote memorization
Secondary Stage (Classes IX–X)
This is a time of discovery and direction. Students are encouraged to choose subjects of interest, reflect on career paths, and build deeper understanding. We prioritize life skills, emotional well-being, leadership development, and community service. Mentoring and career counseling sessions help students make informed choices. Assessments are designed to test application, problem-solving, and creativity. Our learning environment is flexible and supportive, helping students grow both intellectually and emotionally.
Senior Secondary Stage (Classes XI–XII)
This stage empowers students with academic freedom and future-readiness. Learners can choose from interdisciplinary subject combinations, breaking the traditional stream boundaries. The focus shifts to self-directed learning, project work, internships, and research opportunities. With strong faculty support and collaborations for skill development, students gain real-world exposure. Emphasis is placed on ethics, environmental consciousness, and global citizenship. Continuous mentoring and counseling ensure that students are well-prepared for higher education and life beyond school.
